Match Preview: Partick Thistle vs Queen’s Park

0 1

Queen’s Park head to Partick Thistle for the seventh time in less than two years with the Spiders out to build on last weekend’s win at Airdrieonians.

The initial visit in the run of seven at Firhill, came in October 2022 and it was the first on league duty in over 21 years. It was a great success for Queen’s, as they won 4-0, with goals from Tommy Robson, Stephen Eze and Josh McPake who grabbed a double.

Since then, things have not gone so well in the West End with Partick Thistle enjoying five consecutive wins in the Championship, the Play-offs and the Scottish Cup, with a total of 17 goals scored and only eight conceded in return.

Home games over the last two seasons have been kinder to Queen’s Park with two wins secured in 2022/23 and two draws in 2023/ 24 although the Black and Whites held the lead in the second half of both outings at Hampden.

Members of the Queen’s Park Media Team met up with Callum Davidson and midfielder Sean Welsh to discuss the game –

Callum covered:

The season so far
Queen’s Park’s three point haul at Airdrieonians last weekend added to the point they gained against Livingston in their only home game so far in the Championship and lifted the Spiders up to fourth in the table.

Thistle, who picked up eight points in their Premier Sports Cup campaign with wins over Edinburgh City and Montrose enjoyed as well as a penalty kick success against Motherwell, are the early occupiers of second bottom place.

Kris Doolan’s side played out a goalless draw with Morton in their opening Championship game before losing out to a penalty from Raith Rovers Dylan Easton in their second.

Last weekend they went down 2-1 at Falkirk in a roller-coaster of a game where they went down to ten men early, went a goal down just before the hour mark only to equalise and they lose to a late strike.
