Loan Watch: Debuts for Bernard and McNeill, Mejbri bags assist

0 5

A handful of Manchester United players are out on loan spells this season, particularly the youngsters looking to get a taste of first-team football. Here’s a look at how they’ve been getting on.

Amad

Amad has been a regular for Sunderland this season, making his 24th appearance for the club last weekend.

The 20-year-old played all 90 minutes in the Black Cats’ 1-1 draw against Millwall last Saturday, although he struggled to impact the game.

Hannibal Mejbri

Hannibal is yet to come alive for Birmingham City this season but has occasionally showed glimpses of his quality.

The midfielder was named on the bench in the Blues’ game against Swansea City last time out but was introduced into the game at halftime and provided the assist for the winner as Birmingham picked up a 4-3 victory.

Ethan Laird

Laird joined Queens Park Rangers in summer and has started every league game for the Hoops when fit.

The fullback made his return from injury last weekend, playing all 90 minutes in QPR’s 1-1 draw against Huddersfield Town.

Shola Shoretire

Shoretire looks to have secured a spot in Bolton Wanderers’ starting XI less than a month after joining the club on loan.

The 19-year-old started the Trotters’ game against Cheltenham Town last weekend but was substituted midway through the second-half as Bolton went on to win 1-0.

Charlie McNeill

McNeill completed a six-month loan move to Newport County on deadline day.

He made his debut for the League Two outfit last Saturday, playing 70 minutes in their 2-1 win over Swindon Town.

Di’Shon Bernard

Bernard is another academy prospect who left United last month in search of first-team football.

The 22-year-old made his debut for Pompey last weekend, putting in a solid shift at right-back in their 1-1 draw against Barnsley.

Axel Tuanzebe

Tuanzebe also secured a loan move on deadline day, joining Stoke City for the rest of the season.

The defender was, however, excluded from the Potters’ last game as he continues to work his way back to full fitness.

Other loan departures include Alex Telles and Dean Henderson, who are both out with injuries, Eric Bailly, who is suspended, and Alvaro Fernandez, who played eight minutes in Preston North End’s 2-1 defeat to Bristol City last time out.
