Following Spurs’ win over Manchester City, the headlines have understandably been dominated by Kane becoming the top goalscorer in the club’s history, overtaking Greaves’ tally of 266 goals which had stood for over half a century.

Kane expressed his pride at writing his name into Tottenham’s history books and described the moment when the ball hit the back of the net as ‘really magical’.

The striker also becomes just the third player in the Premier League’s 31-year history to score 200 goals in the competition, with Kane being faster to the milestone than both Shearer and Rooney (PremierLeague.com).

The Tottenham man now has Shearer’s record tally of 260 goals in his sights and will fancy his chances of surpassing the record within the next three or four years.

The Newcastle legend has now taken to social media to congratulate Kane on his achievements.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that Kane is not reliant on his physicality or his pace and given the way he takes care of his body, I see the striker continuing to play at the top level into his late thirties. So, I believe that the striker will absolutely obliterate Shearer’s record and could potentially end up with well over 300 Premier League goals.
