Report: Spurs player ‘aims to change clubs’ in January – Multiple teams interested

The print edition of Diario de Cadiz (05/12/22 as relayed by Sport Witness) has revealed that Bryan Gil is keen to leave Tottenham in search of regular game time in January.

Gil spent the second half of last season on loan at Valencia, and over recent days, there has been plenty of speculation about the winger potentially returning to the Mestalla in January.

The print edition of AS (01/12/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) reported last week that the La Liga club are plotting to re-sign the winger on loan in January, with Gennaro Gattuso alleged to be keen on adding attacking reinforcements to his squad.

This was subsequently followed by a report in Super Deporte which suggested that Antonio Conte had made it clear to the Spurs hierarchy that the 21-year-old can only be loaned out to Valencia after a replacement arrives through the door.

Diario de Cadiz have now stated that Gil ‘aims to change clubs’ in January and that ‘everything points to a new start’ for the Spain international in the winter.

The report asserts that Tottenham would only be willing to sell the winger permanently if they are able to recoup the entire fee they paid to sign him from Sevilla in the summer of last year, and would otherwise prefer to loan him out.

It is explained that Valencia are not the only La Liga club in the picture for Gil and that Los Che’s pursuit of the player will not be straightforward. 

Spurs Web Opinion

I expect Gil to push for a loan move to Valencia as the winger will likely want to return to familiar surroundings, given that he would have established a relationship with the players and some of the staff at Mestalla last season. I fully expect the loan deal to go through and for Spurs to bring another attacker through the door.
