Antonio Conte shares update on Dejan Kulusevski’s injury at Spurs

0 7

Tottenham Hotspur were without Dejan Kulusevski in the defeat against Arsenal today, and Spurs boss Antonio Conte has shared an update as to the Swedish star’s injury status.

Kulusevski has become a key player for Spurs since arriving from Juventus in January. His impact last season was integral to the North London club claiming a top four spot, as he contributed five goals and eight assists in 18 games (Transfermarkt).

The 22-year-old had a solid start to the current campaign too, with a goal and three assists in his first nine matches (Transfermarkt).

He has had to spend some time on the bench though, with Antonio Conte dropping the Swede from the starting line-up for the Premier League fixture against Fulham at the start of September and the subsequent two Champions League games.

Now, it appears Kulusevski will be spending some time on the sidelines, whether Conte likes it or not. The Evening Standard reported the attacker had returned from international duty with a muscle injury.

Kulusevski underwent a scan on the injury at Hotspur Way and was unavailable for the North London derby. Before the game, Antonio Conte told BT Sport (1/10/22, 11:30 am), that it is still unclear just how bad the injury may be.

According to Conte, Kulusevski will need to undergo another MRI scan on his hamstring to discover the true extent of the injury.

Spurs Web Opinion

To lose Dejan Kulusevski is such a blow, as he brings so much creativity and forward momentum to our whole team. His goal involvements and progressive play will be sorely missed, and it’s hoped the injury isn’t too serious. Nevertheless, this is why we signed Richarlison in the summer, to provide adequate cover for the worst-case scenario.
