Video: Spurs star admits Antonio Conte has ‘changed’ his mentality

Ryan Sessegnon has admitted that Antonio Conte has changed his mentality and credited the Spurs boss with giving him the confidence to perform at the top level.

Sessegnon’s career was on a downward trajectory when Conte arrived at the club, with the youngster struggling to fulfil the potential he showed during his time at Fulham.

However, the 22-year-old thrived in the left wing-back role in the final few months of last season and has made a promising start to the new campaign.

Sessegnon has now admitted that Conte’s style of play suits him to the ground and revealed that his improvement physically is also behind his recent success.

The youngster also opened up the strength and conditioning work he did during pre-season to prepare for the campaign.

Sessegnon comes across as quite a humble kind and he perhaps lacked the self-confidence (and borderline arrogance) that is needed to succeed at the top level.

Apart from his physical improvements, the mental part of the 22-year-old’s game is something that Conte and his coaching staff have seemingly worked on.
