Report: Tottenham 21-year-old is now ‘close’ to sealing transfer this summer

0 4

The Times have reported that Bryan Gil is now ‘close’ to sealing a switch to Valencia from Tottenham this summer, although it does not clarify whether this is a loan or permanent deal.

This week, Sky Sports claimed that Gil had impressed Antonio Conte in training and could remain at Tottenham for the time being. The head coach himself named Gil as his sixth attacking option in a recent press conference (Football London).

However, Sport Italia journalist Gianluigi Longari reported that Valencia had made ‘new contacts’ with Tottenham about the young winger this week.

Fabrizio Romano also indicated that talks were ongoing between Spurs and Valencia, with the North London club not yet giving the green light for a deal.

If The Times are to be believed, it appears Spurs may now have given that green light as Gil is reportedly ‘close’ to making the move from Premier League football back to La Liga.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a positive spell on loan at Valencia during the second half of last season and will be hoping to make bigger strides this time around.

Spurs Web Opinion:

A loan with a small fee or Valencia covering a large portion of wages makes sense here, and I hope there is no purchase clause. If he does really well across a full season, Gil’s price will sky-rocket, or he could earn a spot at Tottenham.
