Report: Antonio Conte avoids touchline ban, but Tuchel will miss one Chelsea match

Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Antonio Conte, has avoided a touchline ban for the part he played in the events at Stamford Bridge last weekend. 

Conte and his Chelsea counterpart, Thomas Tuchel, were involved in multiple disagreements in the dugouts during the London derby.

The Spurs boss was seen celebrating Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s 1-1 equaliser in the face of Tuchel during the second half, leading to a head-to-head altercation between the two managers. Both were booked by referee Anthony Taylor.

However, at the full-time whistle and following Harry Kane’s dramatic last-minute equaliser to make the game 2-2, Tuchel and Conte came to blows again. This time, Tuchel seemingly refused to let go of Conte’s hand during the customary handshake.

Both managers were shown a straight red card for the post-match scuffle, leading to questions over whether they would receive a touchline ban.

However, it has now been revealed that Conte has escaped a ban, although he will have to pay a £15,000 fine. Tuchel, meanwhile, has received a one-game ban and a £35,000 fine, according to Sky Sports (via Football Daily).

Spurs Web Opinion:

It appears that both probably got a yellow for the first clash, but the Premier League have absolved Conte of any blame for Tuchel refusing to let go of his hand after the game, which is why he has avoided a ban,
