Opinion: Door wide open for United to sign 'unstoppable' £55m star after £65k-a-wk claim

0 3

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is reportedly set to be handed a new bumper deal to ward off interest from Manchester United.

That’s according to a report from Corriere dello Sport who claim that Lazio are ready to pay the 27-year-old €4 million per year (£3.4m-per-year or £65k-per-week) plus bonuses.

That would make Milinkovic-Savic the highest-paid player at Lazio according to CDS. It is suggested that the Italian club will not sell the Serbia international for anything less than €65m (£55m).

Despite Lazio trying to fend off interest from United, we actually think that the door is wide open for Erik ten Hag to bring the midfielder to Old Trafford this summer.

Manchester United should go all out for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Corriere dello Sport claim that United want the Serbian and need to pay £55m to get a deal done for him.

Lazio are prepared to offer Milinkovic-Savic £65k-per-week plus bonuses to keep him in Rome whilst he will reportedly demand £120k-per-week from the Red Devils (Gazzetta dello Sport).

This one seems like an absolute no-brainer. Pay Lazio the £55m for his services and then pay him £120k-per-week – a fairly modest wage in this day and age.

What an incredible signing the Serbian will be for the Red Devils if Ten Hag manages to bring him to Old Trafford before deadline day. He is incredibly powerful and possesses the kind of physique needed to succeed in the Premier League.

The Lazio ace is one of the very best midfielders in the world. Milinkovic-Savic is a central midfielder who usually operates slight deeper. Football Italia recently described him as an ‘unstoppable’ player.

Meanwhile, The Laziali label him as ‘world-class’. On top of all that, Serie A journalist Conor Clancy suggested that he could become a world-beater if he moves to the Premier League. He would be a superb replacement for the recently departed Paul Pogba, that’s for sure.

Stats

Milinkovic-Savic bagged a hugely impressive 11 goals and 11 assists in 37 Serie A games last season. He won 2.8 aerial duels per match and averaged 1.8 tackles and 1.1 clearances per match.

During those 37 appearances, the 34-capped Serbia international made an average of 62.2 passes per match and recorded a completion rate of 81.4%.

Milinkovic-Savic is tremendously experienced and would add so much quality to Ten Hag’s engine room at United. The midfielder is big and powerful and possesses impressive energy and stamina.

The thought of the Serbian lined up alongside Casemiro in the middle of the park should be a tantalising one for the United fans.

And if United sign Milinkovic-Savic for around £55m, we think that would be good value for the club.
