Report: Atalanta are watching 25-year-old Spurs player ‘closely’ this summer

TuttoAtalanta report that Atalanta hold an interest in Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon this summer.

Tottenham have been able to offload Giovani Lo Celso while Tanguy Ndombele now looks set to follow the Argentine out of the door over the coming days (Fabrizio Romano).

Next on Spurs’ to-do list is likely to be finding a new club for Reguilon, who is one of the players to be frozen out from Antonio Conte’s first team plans.

Earlier this summer, reports had suggested that Spaniard could reunite with Julen Lopetegui at Sevilla, (The Athletic) while Barcelona were also credited with an interest in the 25-year-old (Diario AS).

Neither move has seemingly materialised for Reguilon, and it has now emerged that another club in the form of Atalanta could enter the race for the left-back’s signature.

TuttoAtalanta claim that the Serie A club are now watching the Tottenham man ‘closely’.  The report explains that while Gian Piero Gasperini’s side like the former Real Madrid man, his wage demands might complicate any potential move to Bergamo. 

TuttoAtalanta also add that the Serie A club’s interest in Reguilon is not linked to Spurs’ rumoured pursuit of Ruslan Malinovsky.

Spurs Web Opinion 

It is worrying that Reguilon does not appear to be close to an exit, with just two weeks left in the transfer window. Spurs will likely have no choice but to loan the left-back out this summer and the North London club might have to cover a portion of the player’s wages to facilitate the loan.
