Tottenham confirm midfielder has completed loan exit for remainder of the season

0 1

Tottenham have officially confirmed that Nile John has joined Charlton on loan for the rest of the season.

The 18-year-old midfielder has featured prominently for Tottenham’s U23 side this term, notching seven goals in 14 appearances in the Premier League 2 (Transfermarkt).

The England U19 international currently has two senior appearances for Spurs in his short career so far, with his debut for the club coming in a Europa League fixture against Wolfsburg last season.

John joins the Addicks after being endorsed by former Charlton manager and current Spurs youth coach Chris Powell, who welcomed him to the club’s training ground on his arrival.

On his move to Charlton, John told the club’s official website: “I’m over the moon, I’m really looking forward to it. I’m really excited to get out there and play for the fans and play for the badge.

“Chris Powell is someone who I confide in – this connection with Charlton that he’s had and the history and how the fans have been, how the whole club is as a unit, allowed me to feel more welcomed. I’m really grateful for Chris that we’ve got this connection, this link together.”

This should be a good move for John, who is one of the club’s most talented youth products at present. The fact he has earned a loan at such a young age could mean Spurs may see him as a viable option to be included in the senior squad in the near future, providing it is a smooth six months.
