Report: Arsenal boss offers help to Yaya Toure after news he is coaching at Spurs

0 5

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has offered Manchester City icon Yaya Toure his help while he works towards earning his coaching badges.

The former Ivory Coast international, who has been retired since 2020, has been working towards gaining his UEFA A-License and has spent time with QPR, Blackburn and the Wales FA along the way.

Toure’s latest move saw him link up with Tottenham last week where he has been working with academy coaches Chris Powell and Dean Rastrick as part of gaining his official qualifications.

However, Arsenal boss Arteta, who spent time with Toure at City as Pep Guardiola’s assistant manager, has opened his door to him for potential opportunities going forward.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Arteta said: “He has my number because we’ve spent some years together at City.

“He is a player I appreciate a lot so he can call me and ask me the question.

“He has the experience, expertise and has won a lot in the game. He can add value to other players, for sure.”

Toure is expected to spend two days a week working with Tottenham’s academy, but reports have emerged that he would be open to a more formal position at the club going forward.

If Toure excels in gaining his official coaching badges, then there could be an opportunity for him to land a role at Spurs. He has a wealth of playing experience which could prove to be invaluable for the academy and hopefully that can translate into his coaching.
