‘Cancel Sunday too’ – Some fans react after Spurs confirm Rennes game is postponed
Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to social media after the club confirmed that tomorrow evening’s match against Rennes has been postponed.
Spurs were due to take on their French opponents at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Antonio Conte’s side needing to win the fixture in order keep their place in the competition.
The club had reported at least thirteen cases of Covid-19 within their ranks, which included eleven players having tested positive for the virus (Daily Mail).
UEFA rules stipulate that the fixture would only be in jeopardy if a club has fewer than 13 players or no registered goalkeeper available and have now taken the sensible decision for the clash not to go ahead.
Rennes had earlier this evening arrived at London City Airport ahead of the fixture and will now travel back to France ahead of their Ligue 1 fixture against Nice on Sunday.
