Conte reveals how many senior players he now has available for Spurs vs Rennes

0 5

Antonio Conte has now revealed that, before today, he only had 11 available first-team players to choose from for the match against Rennes tomorrow.

However, after a Wednesday training session, the Italian added that another player had received a positive result, bringing that number down to ten. Conte claimed this player would have started against Rennes.

The number of positive test results around Hotspur Way is now up to eight players and five members of staff as Spurs prepare for a packed festive fixture list.

A report this week revealed that the Europa Conference League match would only be at risk of being postponed if Tottenham had fewer than 13 available players or no registered goalkeeper available for the game.

While Conte has hinted that he only has ten available players, it is likely that he is talking about senior stars, meaning UEFA may still expect him to field Tottenham’s listed youngsters if possible.

Conte said (Football London): “We had 11 players available for the match and by the end of the training session today one of the players who would start tomorrow is now positive. It’s scary. We’re all having contact.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

This is getting ridiculous. Tottenham need to shut the training ground down and refuse to play on Thursday. If UEFA refuse to postpone the game, I would rather Spurs forfeit than risk continuing the spread of COVID.
