Burnley boss Sean Dyche backs Spurs players to adapt to Conte football

Sean Dyche has backed Antonio Conte to come good at Tottenham Hotspur but insisted it will take time for the Spurs squad to adapt to his demands.

Conte suffered his first defeat as Spurs boss in midweek as the Lilywhites fell to an embarrassing 2-1 loss to NS Mura in the Europa Conference League.

After the game, the Italian admitted that he now realises after three weeks in the job how big the gap between Spurs and the top sides in the Premier League is. He also added that he is no magician and it will take time to fix the issues.

Some have interpreted Conte’s words as a warning to the Spurs hierarchy that he could walk out if he is not given sufficient resources to compete.

However, Dyche believes that Tottenham have a lot of quality in their squad and it is just a case of the players adapting to the new system.

Ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Turf Moor, the Burnley boss said (via Football365): “There’s no two ways about the manager knowing his stuff and to be honest, the players know their stuff.

“It’s just sometimes you need the connection between what you’re trying to achieve tactically, a change of culture, change of manager, and getting the best out of the players.

“The manager needs to get the best out of them, that’s his job, and his record suggests he will over time.

“I really hope he doesn’t this weekend, that would be helpful, but they don’t lack talent that’s for sure.”

Burnley are currently on a very good run of form and the game on Sunday will be a stern test for Conte’s men. Hopefully, we can get a win and put the disappointment of Thursday behind us.

However, I do fear that another loss would prove a major setback and severely dent the players’ confidence at the start of a new era.
