Flights restaurant opening new location at San Jose’s ClubSport

Workouts at ClubSport in South San Jose are geared toward the whole family. Besides personal training, “The Plex,” a 200,000-square-foot indoor sports and entertainment facility and boasts roller hockey and indoor soccer leagues for different age groups, as well as swimming lessons. Kids activities include rock wall climbing, Lil’ Kickers soccer and jumping houses.

In March The Plex opened a huge area called The 5 Social, offering over 30 popular and vintage arcade games, bocce ball courts and five tournament-level cornhole lanes. Members can watch sporting events on giant-screen TVs while enjoying a selection of premium wines serving themselves one of over 30 craft beers from the tap wall.

There’s food, too, and that’s where local restaurateur and sports aficionado Alex Hult comes in. He’s taking over the food concession that had been run by High Five Pizza for 14 years, and is in the process of installing a Flights restaurant in this space that should be open by December.

Hult currently owns and operates Flights in Campbell, Los Gatos and Mountain View.

“Flights as a business is going full steam ahead, and we’re selling franchises,” says Hult. “We’re set to open in San Diego and Texas, and we’ll open more corporate stores like this one.”

The Flights restaurant and 48-seat bar at The Plex will occupy a spot in the 15,000-square-foot 5 Social.

Of the owners of The Plex, Hult says, “They are putting $7 million into the new food court at The 5 Social, and we’re glad to be part of it. We want to bring the signature food that Flights restaurants have popularized, like pizzas, salads, skewers and fries. Plus, you’ll be able to hang out in a huge bar.”

Other food vendors include Sushi Confidential, set to open in November, and Hult is working with Fouad Elian from Bibo’s NY Pizza in Willow Glen on Pizza@ThePlex, which just opened.
