FOOTBALL stars could be banned from the Qatar 2022 World Cup if they refuse the Covid-19 vaccine.

The Middle East nation is allegedly pushing for mandatory coronavirus vaccinations for all players to take part in next year’s tournament.

The Gulf nation has already revealed fans need to be doubled jabbed to attend.

Now they have taken up the same position with players, according to The Athletic.

But a number of players are known to be anti-vax and therefore that could rob the World Cup of some star names.

However, that is a situation that all parties want to avoid.

Qatar has already administered over 4.6 million vaccines since the outbreak of the pandemic, which is around 82 per cent of their population.

Now they are allegedly in talks with Fifa and medical authorities to reach an ‘amicable solution’.

Today’s report states several options are being considered, including uninoculated players having to report negative tests every three days.

And Qatar’s position may play a huge factor when stars come to decide whether to get their jabs.

A number of Premier League players are known to be resisting taking the Covid-19 vaccine.

Arsenal’s Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka declined to be vaccinated before he then tested positive for coronavirus last month.
