Curtin said he helped out a mother and her teenage daughter who were stranded trying to get to their hotel in Center City

Philadelphia Union head coach accidentally told on himself for essentially being the real-life embodiment of Ted Lasso in a press conference Friday when he let it slip that he gave two Club América fans a lift to their hotel hours after the Concacaf Champions League semifinal had ended in Chester on Wednesday night.

“They were the nicest people, the nicest family and they were literally stuck and they said there were no Ubers,” Curtin said. “Someone was charging them $250. I asked where they were trying to go, they were going down to a hotel on Arch (and) I said ‘I’m going to the city’ so they did jump in.”

During the trip with the mother and her daughter about the same age as his own, Curtin says they shared how it had always been a dream of theirs to see Club América live. Curtin brought up his act of kindness when talking about how well-traveled the Club América fans were coming from across the country to see the Mexican giants play in person.

“That’s just an example of they came from New York City to be here,” Curtin said.

Wednesday night’s crowd was a sellout of 18,887 with the majority of the fans in the stadium wearing yellow.
