Samuel Adeniran and Obed Vargas are allowed to be signed due to Extreme Hardship.

With the Seattle Sounders list of unavailable players as long as it has been all season, they’ve signed two more players under the MLS rule for Extreme Hardships for Sunday’s game against Minnesota United. Tacoma Defiance players Samuel Adeniran and Obed Vargas will join the team on short-term contracts.

There are nine players listed as “out” for Sunday’s game, including Nouhou who had been expected to at least travel for the match. The Sounders are also missing three additional players who are out on loan. That left the Sounders with just 13 available outfield players on their roster. MLS rules stipulate that teams are eligible for “extreme hardship” signings when they have fewer than 16 outfield players available. Even with these additions, the Sounders will fail to field a full 20-player gameday roster for the 14th straight game.

Adeniran, 22, is a forward, who has looked good in both hold up and buildup but hasn’t showed much of a finishing touch so far. Adeniran has just one goal in nine appearances for the Defiance.

Vargas is a 15-year-old from Alaska, who would become the third youngest player to ever appear in a MLS game — and the youngest this year — if he were to actually play. He’s played in eight Defiance games this year as an attack-minded midfielder.
