Report: Spurs player reaches out to Real Madrid defender over potential move

0 2

Real Madrid have enquired about the possibility of signing Serge Aurier from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to French news outlet Foot Mercato.

The report claims that the former Paris Saint-Germain player has already spoken to Madrid defender Raphael Varane over the prospect of moving to the Spanish capital.

Aurier has a track record of proving himself to be defensively unreliable with former Liverpool defender Jamie Carrager recently labelling the Ivorian international as ‘one of the biggest liabilities in Premier League’ after his foul helped Manchester City to a fourth successive Carabao Cup triumph(Sky Sports).

The 28-year-old has just over twelve months to run on his current contract in North London (transfermarkt) and hit the headlines in January when it was reported that he stormed out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the defeat to Liverpool at half time when he was taken off by Jose Mourinho (Daily Mail).

The report claims that Spurs are open to selling the defender for around £10.4 million (€12 million) while he has also been in talks with Paris Saint-Germain for a number of months.

Given the fact that he has around 12 months left on his contract along with his defensive frailities, Aurier should be one of the players who should be sold this summer as part of the rebuild that needs to take place; however, we desperately need to bring in another right-back given Matt Doherty’s poor first campaign at Spurs.
