The Union will have the full complement of seats available for masked fans against Columbus Crew

The Philadelphia Union will have a chance to play in front of a full crowd at Subaru Park for the first time since the global pandemic shut down soccer in a match against the Columbus Crew on June 23, the team announced on Monday.

“Philadelphia Union fans are the backbone of this organization and we cannot wait to welcome back all fans and the electricity they bring,” Philadelphia Union President Tim McDermott said in a news release. “We are truly excited for the Philadelphia fans who have waited for this moment for over a year.”

All fans will still be required to wear masks.

Monday’s announcement followed the decision from Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf lifting all Covid-19 restrictions other than masking on May 31.

Season ticket holders will be able to return to their reserved seats and group, single game tickets and suites will be available for sale to the general public. Single game tickets will go on sale starting May 21.

Capacity at Subaru Park is 18,500, but has been limited to 5,000 fans this season. The game on June 23 will be the first game with full capacity allowed since the stadium was renamed Subaru Park in early 2020. The Union will still have designated areas that will enable social distancing for fans.
