Video: Arsenal legend calls for change after Harry Kane incident at Leeds

0 2

Former Arsenal midfielder Perry Groves has called for changes to the offside rule to be made following Tottenham Hotspur’s match at Leeds United on Saturday.

Tottenham had thought they had taken a 2-1 lead through Harry Kane midway through the first half when he latched onto a Dele Alli pass to dink the ball over Illan Meslier.

The goal was ruled offside by the linesman and was subsequently reviewed by VAR who agreed with the decision, despite there being no clear evidence that the forward was in front of the last Leeds defender.

Replays seemingly showed that Kane was level when Dele had played the pass, digital lines were drawn on the screen where the England captain’s left toe appeared in line with the defender’s heel.

Groves claimed that Kane was onside and the goal should have stood and believes too many good goals are being struck off due to incorrect decisions by those in charge of VAR.
