Four clubs final fixtures for a top-four race

We have just three games left to play in, what has been a crapy-miserable-pathetic season for us, but, and there is always a “put,” there is still a slender chance of us getting a Champions League qualification place, but that is providing other results go our way. In other words, Chelski, the Spammers, along with the Scousers, will have to fall on their swords and die the death of a thousand pinpricks. Of course, no sane Tottenham supporter believes this will happen, but dreaming is what we do, and over the years, we’ve been good at it.

Ryan Mason’s Tottenham will need a gigantic miracle to finish in the top four.

When the TV camera’s focused on Mason’s face, and the reporter asked if Leeds United had ended our hope for European Champions football, he responded as if a rabbit was caught in the headlights of a car: “I don’t know. Look, today is a disappointing result for us. We wanted to come here and win the game. We haven’t done that. That’s very disappointing. We have to get over this, and we have to work well this week and hopefully get three points next weekend.”

We are currently seventh in the league, one point behind the scousers in sixth despite playing a game more. Our hopes of a top-four finish were handed a lifeline with Leicester’s shock defeat at home to Newcastle, but being “Spursy”, we wasted the chance to go higher. More so with the Spammers also losing.

Our final three games, which two of them are home games; Aston Villa and Wolves, then we travel to Leicester away (the last game of the season), which could have an immense implication on the outcome of the Champions League spots.

Chelsea

At one time, we were four points above Chelski, then Thomas Tuchel came, now they are above us. The Russians will face struggling Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, before another home clash against Leicester just three days after the sides meet in the FA Cup final.

Liverpool

Liverpool have four games left to play. A trip to Old Trafford, then they travel to face a relegated West Brom Albion.  Then Arsenal, before their final fixtures against  Burnley and Palace.

West Ham

The Spammers have had a good season (better than expected, they were favourites to be relegated) however, the 1-0 defeat to Everton on Sunday did their top-four place some damage. Their final three games are against Brighton and West Brom and end with Southampton.

So, what are your thoughts? Do you think we can pull a rabbit out of the hat and achieve a miracle while the other three clubs just stand there while being robbed of points? No, I didn’t think you would. But then again, we wouldn’t be Spurs without optimism, and that is all we’ve got left. Ever since Levy took over, we’ve been given a magnificent stadium with magnificent seats to put our bums on so that we could be robbed of hundreds and thousands of pounds. Sadly, money robbery from the fans to the coffers hasn’t manifested in money to the team so that they can compete on the same level as the other “elite” top five clubs.
