The 24-year-old defender has signed for MLS club Atlanta United for a transfer fee of $2.8m and he’s expected to be registered as a Designated Player. Atlanta United fans would be delighted with the latest development as they have waited for a central defender signing for several weeks.

Reports in Argentina claimed that MLS outfit Atlanta United will pay around $3m for the player, bonuses inclusive. It was also revealed that CA Independiente has inserted a sell-on clause of around 50% into the transfer. This means that Atlanta United will pay the Argentine club around 50% of any transfer fee received for their new signing in the future.

Ex-Premier League defender Carlos Bocanegra was delighted with the club’s capture of Alan Franco. Carlos Bocanegra is a former Fulham left-back, who’s now the technical director and the vice-president at MLS team Atlanta United. According to him, Alan Franco is a premium ball-playing defender. In addition to being comfortable with the ball at his feet,  Carlos Bocanegra said the new Atlanta United player is also aggressive and competitive.

Carlos Bocanegra said that Alan Franco has played more than 80 games in the Argentine top flight competitively and that the club can’t wait to integrate him into the first team. The new Atlanta United defender has experience in the Copa Sudamericana and in the Copa Libertadores as pointed by the club’s executive Bocanegra. Alan Franco is expected to partner Miles Robinson at the heart of the Atlanta United defence when the new signing has settled in at his new club.
