English football club director makes confident claim about Mauricio Pochettino and Spurs

Peterborough’s director of football Barry Fry has said that Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino had a very good relationship and that he would not be surprised to see the Argentine return to the North London club in the future.

Tottenham’s decision to part-ways with Pochettino in November of 2019 came as quite a shock to the footballing world given that the club had fallen just one step short of becoming the Champions of Europe just a few months earlier.

Daniel Levy’s decision to replace the 49-year-old with Jose Mourinho, who came with an outstanding CV of delivering silverware at every club he has been at, is certainly not going according to plan at the moment.

Reports indicate that the Portuguese coach is under risk of being sacked on the back of the Lilywhites’ struggles over the past few months.

Meanwhile, Pochettino has made an extremely promising start to his time at Paris Saint-Germain, with the Ligue 1 giants progressing to the final four of the Champions League at the expense of Bayern Munich this week.

The former Spurs boss has spoken about his desire to return to his former stomping ground one day, admitting that he had unfinished business at N17 and Fry has insisted that it is something that he can see happening in the future.

He told Football Fancast: “I wouldn’t be surprised if at some time in the future he comes back to Tottenham. The fans loved him, the players loved him, he was successful up to a point, he just needed to jump that final hurdle, which he didn’t do.

“There was a lot of good and I think Daniel and him had a good relationship, but obviously felt at the time Tottenham weren’t going in the right direction, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Poch back at Tottenham in years to come.”

Pochettino might still desire a reunion with Spurs in the future as he is a football romatic at heart. However, he would not be human if he did not have a part of him wanting to show Daniel Levy and the Tottenham hierarchy that they made a massive mistake by sacking him.

If he goes on to be successful at PSG, he could also have several heavy hitters after him. Given that Tottenham seem to be on a downward trajectory, it remains to be seen if a potential return to North London would still be an appealing prospect for the 49-year-old in a few years time.
