Danny Murphy offers a bleak prediction of Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham

0 5

Danny Murphy has claimed that Harry Kane needs to leave Tottenham Hotspur if he wants to win trophies and also ruled out the prospect of the North Londoners qualifying for the Champions League.

Tottenham’s outside hopes of gatecrashing the top four after throwing away another lead when they lost 3-1 at home to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

The result means that Jose Mourinho’s side are now six points behind West Ham United who occupy fourth place.

Kane has already admitted that he will not make a decision on his Tottenham future until after his involvement in this summer’s Euros with England is over with The Athletic claiming that the striker is expected to ask to leave the club if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

The marksman is contracted to Tottenham until June 2024, after signing a six-year deal in 2018 when Mauricio Pochettino was manager.

Murphy is under no illusion that Kane will not add to his trophy cabinet as long as he remains at Tottenham.

He told talkSPORT: “I don’t know a person who says he’s desperate to leave but I’ve seen he’s spoken in the past that he wants to win things – he won’t win anything there.

“Their Champions League hopes are in tatters now. It was always a long shot they had a little recovery recently but the Arsenal defeat was a huge blow to them.

“The performance and defeat yesterday [against United] says to me they’re not going to be there.”
