Liverpool Legend Ian St John Passes Away

The title of ‘legend’ is sometimes applied too generously, but in the case of Ian St John, no other descriptor would do the job. Signed for a record fee by Bill Shankly in the manager’s second year in charge, the Scot remained at the club for a decade, racking up 425 appearances, and winning two league titles along with the Reds’ first ever FA Cup, in which he scored the winner in extra time. The 82-year old passed away on Monday evening following a period of illness. “It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you that after a long illness we have lost a husband, father and grandfather,” read a statement from St John’s family. ...
