Lloyd, Purce, and Sheridan listed as allocated players for the upcoming 2021 season

The National Women’s Soccer League has revealed the list of allocated players from the United States and Canada for the upcoming 2021 season. Allocated players will have their salaries paid by the U.S. Soccer Federation or Canada Soccer. A total of 32 players will be participating as allocated players in 2021, 22 from U.S. Soccer and 10 from Canada Soccer.

Allocated to Sky Blue FC from the United States are forward Carli Lloyd and defender/forward Midge Purce and from Canada is goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan.

Lloyd led the Sky Blue attack in 2019 with eight goals and one assist in 14 games played. She finished the season in the top ten for goals scored in the league. Lloyd missed the 2020 Challenge Cup and Fall Series rehabbing an injury suffered in preparation for the 2020 preseason. She is ranked sixth all-time in NWSL goals (39).

Purce joined Sky Blue FC in January 2020 and started all nine of her matches between the Challenge Cup and Fall Series. She played every minute of the 2020 Fall Series and ended the series with one goal and two assists.

Sheridan had another outstanding year in goal in 2020. She earned the Golden Glove Presented by Verizon award following her stellar Challenge Cup performance. During the Fall Series, Sheridan earned the Save of the Week award during a 1-0 victory against the Spirit. Sheridan, unfortunately, suffered an injury during the 2021 SheBelieves Cup and is currently being evaluated further.

Sky Blue FC is preparing for the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup beginning on April 9 and a 24-match regular season starting May 15. Digital Memberships are on sale now at SkyBlueFC.com, with Season Ticket Membership information coming at a later date.
