Antonio Rudiger, who was said to be on Tottenham’s radar during the previous transfer window has hinted that he could end up staying at Chelsea following positive talks with Frank Lampard and his coaching staff.

Tottenham reportedly made a deadline day move for Rudiger after seeing their pursuit of Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar fall through (Football Insider).

The Athletic’s David Ornstein revealed last week that Chelsea were willing to do business with Tottenham but it was Rudiger who rejected the chance to join the North Londoners on a temporary loan deal.

While the German international struggled for minutes at the start of the season, he has seen more game time over recent weeks.

After getting a couple of opportunities in the Champions League, Lampard handed the 27-year-old his first Premier League start of the season in the Blues’ 2-0 win against Newcastle United on Saturday.

Speaking about his future to German publication SID (as relayed by The Metro), the central defender said: “I’m satisfied with how the situation has developed in the past weeks.

“Now I see myself as a permanent part of the team.

“I had a tough time, so I also checked other transfer options but I received positive signals from the coaching team.”
