Glenn Hoddle admits he has ‘sneaky feeling’ about player ahead of Chelsea clash

Tottenham Hotspur legend Glenn Hoddle has predicted that Gareth Bale could have a big say in the all-important clash against Chelsea on Sunday.

Tottenham travel to Stamford Bridge for what is arguably one of the biggest London derbies over recent years because of what the clash could mean in the grander scheme of the Premier League title race.

Both Spurs and Chelsea have made impressive starts to the campaign and have been backed to potentially challenge for the title this season.

However, Jose Mourinho’s men will have to worry about beating Ludogorets this evening first, with their route to the knockout stages of the Europa League far from confirmed.

Bale has started every single one of Tottenham’s Europa League group games so far and he could well keep up that record after being rested in the 2-0 win over Manchester City on Saturday.

Hoddle believes that Mourinho might save the Welshman for the clash against his former side on Sunday and admitted that he has a ‘sneaky feeling’ the 31-year-old could have a major say in the contest.

He said on The Glenn Hoddle Footy Show (as relayed by The Metro): “I’ve got a sneaky feeling that Gareth Bale might have a big say in that game (against Chelsea).

“I think Mourinho might be holding him up his sleeve. That’s the sort of game where you could just see him.

“He played 90 minutes for Wales, and you could see him turning it on in a game like that. It wouldn’t surprise me if Mourinho hasn’t got him earmarked for Chelsea.”
