Salah Grateful For Diogo Jota

The Egyptian star says their new addition is making life easier for the front three.

For three seasons now, the combination of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah has lit European football alight with their intelligent, clinical and lightning fast performances. When Diogo Jota joined the team from Wolves, it seemed hard to imagine a consistent starting spot for him.

But then Jota scored and kept scoring and kept scoring. In fact, he’s scored eight times in his first 12 appearances for the Reds, including bagging a European hat trick.

When asked about the player who took his place against Leicester City on Sunday, Salah said he welcomes the contribution.

“We are happy for him,” he said. “As team-mates we are trying to push each other every day in training, so to see someone come in and score goals you feel also happy for him because you feel he is going to help your team and to make it easier for us up front.

“Hopefully that will happen again and again and again. Scoring a few goals is a good way for him to start here maybe with confidence.

“To have someone else who can score goals is a great option for us. Now with Diogo we can play four together or we could still play three.”

Klopp seems eager to test out a 4-2-3-1 in order to accommodate all four attackers in his team. If they can make it work, their dangerous attacking trio could become an even more lethal foursome.
