Report: Tottenham could make an offer for 27-year-old midfielder in January

According to Calcio Mercato, Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic and could make an offer for him during the January transfer window.

Links to Brozovic are not new for the Lilywhites, with the 27-year-old reported to have been on the club’s radar as far back as 2018 (Sportske Novosti via Bleacher Report).

Reports from Italy indicated that the Croatian international was offered to the North Londoners back in July as part of a swap deal to take Tanguy Ndombele to the San Siro (Corriere dello Sport via TBR Football).

Calcio Mercato now reveal that Brozovic has fallen down Antonio Conte’s pecking order, while there are also question marks about his attitude off the pitch.

The report reveals that the Nerazzurri tried to move the midfielder on when the European transfer window was open and will try again in January. Tottenham and Monaco are suggested as the two most likely destinations for Brozovic.

Spurs Web Opinion

After the acquisition of Rodon (the jury is of course still out on him), defensive midfield is arguably the area where the squad is the weakest, both in terms of quality and numbers. Mourinho does not seem to be particularly convinced by either Winks or Sissoko, and so I am not surprised to see us being linked with the likes of Kalvin Philips and Brozovic. However, I am still hopeful that Oliver Skipp can come back from his loan spell and make the position his own next season.
