Report: Ajax and three Premier League clubs battling it out for Spurs wide man

According to a report in The Telegraph, Ryan Sessegnon is one of most sought-after players in the final two weeks of the window, with Tottenham Hotspur now ready to loan him out.

The report claims that the arrival of Sergio Reguilon has made Sessegnon surplus to requirements for Jose Mourinho at Tottenham, with the Spurs boss now being open to letting the youngster leave on loan.

It is said that several clubs have already enquired about the wide man’s availability, including Southampton, Brighton and Burnley.

The report suggests that the Saints are looking to add width to their squad and have identified Sessegnon as a potential option while Brighton believe the Tottenham man can bolster their forward line.

Apart from the Premier League sides, Ajax are also said to be monitoring the 20-year-old, with the Dutch giants viewing Sessegnon as a natural replacement for Hakim Ziyech.

It is revealed that Fulham also expressed interest in bringing the England Under-21 international back to Craven Cottage earlier this summer but it is not mentioned whether Scott Parker’s side still retain their interest.

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds as though most of the clubs who want Sessegnon want him as an additional wide option rather than as a left-back. Since reports have indicated Jose sees Sessegnon evolving into a left-back rather than a wide player, I suspect we will be loaning him out to a team that is more likely to use him as a wing-back. I believe a move to Brighton would suit the youngster given the way Graham Porter sets his teams up.
