Euro Paper Talk: Arteta move for Partey Plan B will let Man Utd offload unwanted star; Mourinho’s three targets named

0 1

Arsenal are turning their focus to a Guinean midfielder in a deal that will give the selling club funds to sign an unwanted Manchester United man, while Jose Mourinho has three huge targets at Tottenham before the window shuts, according to Wednesday’s Euro Paper Talk.

DIAWARA TRANSFER HOPE FOR ARSENAL

Arsenal are ready to make their move for Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara, according to reports.

Mikel Arteta is looking to beef up his midfield before the window shuts. As such, he has targeted moves for Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar.

Their hopes for Aouar look promising, amid claims a renewed bid will be submitted this week.

However, despite planning to offload the likes of Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira, Arsenal are unlikely to be able to afford both.

Aoaur is likely to cost around €45m, while Atletico are holding out for the €50m exit fee for Partey.

With Aouar the priority, Arteta will instead turn to Roma star Diawara as a midfield partner.

The Guinean is an important player in Paulo Fonseca’s side. However, Roma could look to cash in for a fee of around €30m – and that has alerted Arsenal.

At €20m less than Partey, Arteta believes his capture makes lots of sense and would give their midfield new bite.

The sale of the Guinean midfielder will finally give Roma the finances they need to bring Chris Smalling back to the club.

The Manchester United defender spent the 2019/20 season on loan in the Italian capital and proved a big success.

However, Roma’s attempts to sign Smalling on a permanent basis have proven difficult.

Another Italian side, Inter Milan, have shown interest in the player since, potentially offering United a winger in a swap deal.

The defender is keen to return to Roma, though, and has also turned down offers from other Premier League clubs to do so.

United are said to value Smalling at €20m and have refused to lower their asking price. However, the sale of Diawara will finally free up the funds needed to bring the player back.
