Paper Talk: Future of Arsenal star takes huge twist as crisis worsens

0 1

Arsenal’s worries about Freddie Ljungberg lie deep as a star man pulls out of contract talks, while Brendan Rodgers’ wage rockets with his new Leicester deal – all in Saturday’s newspapers.

SERIOUS CONCERNS AT ARSENAL

Arsenal have serious doubts about the ability of Freddie Ljungberg to continue as interim boss, according to reports.

Ljungberg was installed in temporary charge last week following the sacking of Unai Emery, who had led the Gunners to their worst run since the 1990s.

A draw with Norwich last Sunday and defeat to Brighton in Ljungberg‘s two games so far has worsened that record, with Arsenal now in their worst spell of results in 42 years.

According to The Mirror, the two most recent results have indicated to the Arsenal hierarchy that the Swede has been unable to provide a “new manager” bounce and they are considering appointing a permanent boss quickly.

It was hoped that Ljungberg would have been able to buy the North Londoners some time to choose the right successor to Emery, but it is now claimed that they may have to act fast.

Meanwhile, The Mirror also reports that striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has pulled out of contract talks, with his current deal set to expire in 2021.

It is claimed that the Gabon international is “deeply frustrated” with the state the club is in and believes it is going backwards.
