Could we not remove the idea of body parts and do 'daylight between torso' ? removing the limbs altogether ?

daylight between torso gives us about a foot of give either way. Returns football back to the glory days of 'peeling off the shoulder' etc.
None of this crap where we deny a bloke a goal because he was an inch ahead.
Whatever the rule, it has to take into account that this is just nonsense.
