New Cal athletic director Jim Knowlton brings military lessons to Bears
In a behind-the-scenes moment Monday, Cal’s new athletic director Jim Knowlton tried to apologize for mistakenly calling head football coach Justin Wilcox by the wrong name in an introductory news conference.
Head women’s basketball coach Lindsay Gottlieb joked: “That’s OK. I just told Justin just to ask for a couple more years on his contract.”
Without hesitation, Knowlton quipped: “Oh, yeah, he’s got some leverage on me now.
