EuroHockey5s Tournaments 2021

0 10

The EHF is delighted to launch a new event on the EuroHockey calendar, as we launch our Hockey5s tournaments in 2021.

Following the FIH Executive Board’s decision to create an FIH Hockey5s World Cup, with the inaugural edition planned for 2023. In order to have qualifiers, each Continent has been asked to organise Hockey5s events.

The number of teams and qualification system for the FIH Hockey5s World Cup has not yet been determined by FIH.

The FIH created a Rules Working Group which has been looking into the Hockey5s Rules and they have been updated now.

As most (if not all) countries in Europe do not have a senior Hockey5s league, the EHF will host Hockey5s Tournaments in 2021 (see below) to determine a senior EuroHockey5s ranking. Teams can also use these 2021 events as a test to see if they would like it.

In the summer of 2022 (dates TBC) the EHF will then host the EuroHockey5s Championships where countries can qualify for the Hockey5s World Cups.

National Associations MUST participate in 2021 to be able to qualify in 2022 for the Hockey5s World Cups.

The EHF Vice President and Chair of the Competitions Committee Outdoor, Walter Kapounek said “We are very pleased that so many of our Member Associations have shown a keen interest in the senior Hockey5s events for 2021. Whilst Hockey5s is now firmly established as an important event for our Under 16 athletes, this new format for seniors is new in Europe next year. 17 men’s and 15 women’s teams will compete, a great start for a new competition. We are looking forward to seeing how our members will enjoy and compete in these events and we look forward to the journey of Hockey5s with our members over the coming years.”

The 2021 EuroHockey5s Tournaments (Men and Women) will take place on the following dates at the venues stated.

NB Late entries will not be accepted.

NB In case of circumstances beyond EHFs control, EHF reserves the right to reconsider the event dates.

NB The withdrawal date for all tournaments in these competitions is 15 January 2021. Any National Association withdrawing after that date may be subject to a fine or other disciplinary action by EHF. See current EHF Regulations for further details.

NB For the Men’s Tournaments the composition of the pools is the responsibility of the EHF and a number of factors have been taken into account.

EHF has the right to change teams from Men’s Tournament A to Men’s Tournament B or vice versa in case multiple withdrawals make for an uneven number of teams at one of the venues. This will be done in good cooperation with the teams.
