L5s v Neston Match Report

0 3

Wilmslow played host to Neston 5’s on Saturday in the last of the day’s games against them in what felt like a town twinning scheme.

Wilmslow started strong and were unlucky not to score as Neston settled into steady defending mode. Wilmslow moved the ball around with some lovely link play between the midfield of Estelle, Millie, Beth and Rachel and forwards Emma, Tula, Anna and Lexi.

Lots of running off the ball saw the opportunity for Angie (playing her first game this season) to pass a great ball to Millie, who slotted the ball past the stranded keeper taking the home side into the half time break 1-0 up.

The visitors had clearly had a stern talking to and came out strong as the whistle blew for the second half to begin, storming down the right putting the defence of Roisin, Katie, Nat and Merry under what they hoped would be a lot of pressure but our girls just soaked it up and kept keeper Rhiannon safe from any loose shots at her goal.

Wilmslow then decided it was time to find their fourth gear and played strong attacking hockey down the left and right flanks with Millie unstoppable down the right wing, her pace and accurate passing picked out Emma in the circle who coolly slotted the ball past the Neston keeper to seal the deal and on the final whistle the girls had won 2-0 taking all the points on offer.
