There seems no end to the rise of Glasgow contemporary art gallery the Modern Institute, or of the artists in its ever-expanding stable. Swiss artist Nicolas Party has come a long way since he was painting landscapes with lollipop trees in day-glo colours after graduating from Glasgow School of Art’s MFA course. These days he’s living in New York and showing with A-listers Hauser & Wirth, and this show, in Modern Institute’s Osborne Street space, is a clear demonstration of how his work has grown in ambition and panache
