Supercomputer predicts result of one of year’s biggest horse races – and it’s bad news for Rachael Blackmore
A SUPERCOMPUTER has predicted the result of one of the year’s biggest horse races – and, for once, it’s bad news for Rachael Blackmore.
The all-conquering jockey has swept rivals aside in a groundbreaking 2021.
Blackmore has swept all before her in 2021 – but will she taste success in the Ladbrokes Trophy Chase?[/caption]She became the first female winner of the Grand National last April and was the first woman to be crowned champion jockey at Cheltenham Festival.
The Irish superstar, 32, has hardly slowed down since returning from injury, winning last weekend’s prestigious Betfair Chase on A Plus Tard and pulling off a never-before-seen piece of skill in the saddle at Cheltenham.
Blackmore, who has formed a brilliant alliance with trainer Henry de Bromhead, returns to England for Saturday’s Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury.
The race used to be known as the Hennessy Gold Cup and is one of the biggest fixtures in the calendar.
Blackmore gets the ride on the highly fancied Eklat De Rire, trained by De Bromhead and currently a 9-2 second-favourite alongside Colin Tizzard’s Fiddlerontheroof.
But a supercomputer predicts the best Blackmore will manage is runner-up.

The system analyses each horse’s odds, official rating, previous race form, course form, going form, distance form and the current form of the trainer and jockey.
The brainboxes at BeMyBet came up with the system to forecast the winner.
And coming out first above all others is the Paul Nicholls-trained Enrilo.
The mount of Harry Cobden, current odds of 11-2, won at Newbury in February and followed it up with an impressive performance when crossing the line first in the competitive Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown in April before being demoted to third for interference.
Blackmore is predicted to finish second, while 14-1 Potterman is forecast to finish third and Demachine, a 12-1 outsider, fourth.
Last year’s winner Cloth Cap, who went onto start favourite for the Grand National, is predicted to come fifth.
Willie Mullins is set for a rare off day too, with the best of his runners, Ontheropes, the current 4-1 favourite, calculated to be his best finisher but in seventh.
If you fancy backing the top two in a forecast – Enrilo to win and Eklat De Rire to finish second – you can do so at healthy odds of 33-1.
