19 HORSES REMAIN IN THE VERTEM FUTURITY TROPHY

Doncaster Racecourse are delighted to announce that, at the five day stage, 19 horses remain entered for the Vertem Futurity Trophy. The final Group 1 race of the year in Britain sees the countrys top two-year-olds race over a mile at Town Moor on Saturday 27 October.

Attracting some of the UK's leading trainers and horses, the October Trophy is the last Group 1 race of the season and attracts the best two years olds in the country, including several horses aimed at next years Epsom Derby. Established in 1961, five winners have subsequently achieved victory in the following year's Epsom Derby. The first was Reference Point (1986-87) and the most recent was Camelot (2011-12).
Perhaps one of the most exciting Group 1 races is recent history, the 2017 October Trophy (then Racing Post Trophy) saw Saxon Warrior beat Roaring Lion to secure a record 26 Group 1 wins for trainer Aidan O'Brien .
In addition to world-class racing, former BDO world champion Andy "the Viking" Fordham will be joining us, i.e. RACING BREAKS to take on the Doncaster race goers in a 9 dart challenge!
