Apolinar claims OPBF title!

Earlier today The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex, in Paranaque city, played host to the latest OPBF title fight, and it was a really interesting one on paper pitting one of the most skilled youngsters in the Philippines, against one of the most dangerous veterans in the country. It wasn't a bout that got much attention, but it was one that certainly deserved to have fans aware of it.
The bout in question saw the highly skilled Pete Apolinar (16-2, 10) take on hard hitting Jhunriel Ramonal (17-10-6, 10), in a bout for the OPBF Super Bantamweight title.
Going in to the bout it was expected to be a match up between the skills, counter punching, slippery defense and accurate combinations of Apolinar, and the power, physicality and brute strength of Ramonal. In the first round it was apparently that the real factor wasn't the skills of Apolinar, but instead the speed, as he got in and out of range with ease, made the most of the slow, flat footed nature of Ramonal, and picked off the dangerous veteran.
Ramonal always looked dangerous, but was often whiffing at the air, leaving himself open for counters and was tiring himself out whilst being picked off by the accurate shows of Apolinar. Notable when Apolinar was caught he wasn't really hurt, and he made the most of being the naturally bigger man, having fought much of his career at Featherweight.
Round by round the younger, fresher Apolinar simply chipped away at Ramonal, getting the rounds in the bag, and breaking down Ramonal mentally and physically. It was a great performance by Apolinar for much of the bout, and saw him essentially neutralise a very dangerous man.
By the start of round 10 it seemed he was cruising to a decision win, however with Ramonal being tired it seemed like Apolinar wanted more than just the win and part way through the round Ramonal ended up on the ropes, giving Apolinaro a chance to unload. And unload he did, ending a flurry with a peach of a left hook that dropped Ramonal hard. Ramonal tried to beat the count, but failed as Apolinar celebrated the biggest win of his career
