0 5

Among people of different cultures, professions and ages, quite good dancers can be found.
Furthermore, we possess timekeeping and even new-borns seem to have a sense of rhythm. Nature has given us an ability to dance and derive pleasure from it. However, people are far from the only species with a rhythm. Apart from us, many animals enjoy moving to the beat and getting into the groove. So, why not mention that all creatures great and small among us can dance and be no worse?

Nature
has given us an
ability to dance
and derive
pleasure
from it

Today our world is filled with dancing animals. Stop, look and see your surroundings of animals. Maybe you will notice that even the animals around you will be dancing. Have you noticed that dogs, bears, lions, cats, parrots, dolphins and lots of others are able to dance to the music? But have you known that birds and then some insects as honeybees can even bust a move?

Sweet Dancer

Why do honey bees dance? The main goal of the bee dance is to communicate. Karl von Frisch, Austrian scientist established that bees use their strange dance to show others where the source of the nectar could be located. Dance angle tells the direction and the number of the bee waggles tell the distance. In addition, dance is a way the honeybee signals the colony about the potential of a new home. Performing waggle dance, bees take into account every little detail as to the amount of wind, sun position, and even a plant type.

Birds Can Bust a Move

You can see by your own eyes the dancing of different kinds of birds. Maybe you have seen dancing birds on the street in your own neighborhood. Why do birds dance? What makes them enjoy moving to the beat? Why do parrots or even seagulls dance? Probably, they all have different reasons, but let’s slice and dice why?

Performing the dance, seagulls don’t party, but charm worms! Seagull dance is their method to bait worms tapping the earth with their feet. Not only the seagulls perform a hunt dance. You also can watch the thrushes, blackbirds, and robins worm charming. And what about our companion the parrot?

For example, in 2007 a dancing parrot named Snowball confused all scientists. Before learning about Snowball, the scientific community used to think only people possess such an ability. Ultimately, it was concluded that Snowball dances as far as he speaks. That is why this skill let him sense the rhythm. The key element of those two skills is mimicking. With this skill parrots and other birds along with mammals are able to dance thanks to their mimic ability.

Nobody knows for sure why, but birds dance and get a charge out of it.

Another theory announced in 2016, that mimicking definitely should take a particular place, however, dance is something more. It is thought that both humans and animals brain has developed in such a way that we learned to dance by perceiving rhythm in a social context. This ability is not a dance craft, but a capability of sensing, using and enjoying the rhythm among its kinds. It has been defined by the physiological nature of their nervous system. Therefore, nobody knows for sure why, but birds dance and get a charge out of it!

We All Dancers

The birds and bees are not the only ones who dance up a storm. The list of dancing animals is much bigger! For example, stoats, which is similar to a weasel, dazzle their prey before the killing, dogs ask for food by dancing in front of their masters, the bright peacock spider as well as the mudskipper, this is a fish, they dance for their females. What is more, the unicellular algae Volvox dance to survive!

As for other animals, hardly anybody knows the accurate reason for their wild dancing. Many animals use dancing as mating habits to attract the partner, and we call it to dance too. So, let’s keep on watching and learning about this beautiful nature with its tenants and dancing, of course! It is thought that both humans and animals brain has developed in such a way that we learned to dance by perceiving rhythm in a social context. This ability is not a dance craft, but a capability of sensing, using and enjoying the rhythm among its kinds.

Unlike animals, we – people are more sophisticated creatures and can find plenty of reasons to dance. We choose dancing as:

  • a way to improve mental and physical health,
  • a profession to earn money with a great delight,
  • a way to spend time in good company and enhance relations
  • and just for fun!
Let’s follow birds, dogs, and others step and have dancing as a way of life, as this is a perfect way to energize and stay positive!
