Sport dance: WDC World Professional Ballroom Championship 2018
On 27th of October 2018 the most important dance event of this autumn will take place in Kremlin – WDC World Professional Ballroom Championship. This is the third World Championship in this discipline, organized in Russia on the floor of Moscow Kremlin. General partner of World Championship is Gazprombank. Official partner is Aviacompany Nordstar. The organizer of the event and also its constant MC – Homorary Worker of Art of Russia, RDU president, WDC Honorary Vice-President, APDC Vice-President, Stanislav Popov.
The first championship took place in 2013, and the second one –a year ago in 2017. This time can be called the epoch of outstanding dancers from USA- Arunas Bizokas and Katusha Demidova. On the Moscow floor they always became first. Having won last year their ninth title, they for sure are planning to repeat their success and their place in the history of ballroom dancing. No couple before them never won world title in ballroom for 10 times in a row!
We are expecting great dancers at this World Championship. There will be on the floor multiple world vice-champions Victor Fung and Anastasia (USA), bronze winners Andrea and Sara Ghigiarelli (Great Britain), constant world championship and Blackpool finalists, including 2018, Valerio Colantoni and Monica Nigro (Italy), Domen Krapez and Natasha Karabey (Germany). In 2018 in Blackpool for the first time became 7th place finalists dancers from Poland, Sergiu and Dorota Rusu. The strongest couples from Great Britain, Germany, Italy, USA and Spain are also expected.
And of course, great couples from Russia. We should remember our stylish and beautiful three times Russian champions, Alexander Zhiratkov and Irina Novozhilova – constant finalists of world championships and Blackpool, including this year. At this competition Russian couples came very close to the final places. On 8th place were Russian vice-champions Stanislav Zelyanin and Irina Cherepanova. And on the 12th – Alessio Potenziani and Veronika Vlasova. And one more couple, Sergey Sutyrin and Natalia Sazhina got to ¼. With a big interest we are expecting the performance of Rising stars winners at International 2017, Anton Nedotsukov and Anna Rozhkova, also the winners of Russian Grand-Prix series 2017/2018 Nikolay Govorov and Evgeniya Tolstaya, and other couples. And for sure Russian fans of ballroom dancing can look into the future of Russian professional dancing with optimism. Because this is clearly stated by the victory of our multiple Russian amateur champions Fedor Isaev and Anna Zudilina at Blackpool 2018!
The championship will be adjudicated by 11 most famous world specialists in ballroom dancing from 11 countries, and the opinion of one of the judges- nine times world champion Karen Hilton MBE from Great Britain, will be especially important for the participants and specialists.
A very passionate and temperament competition will also await all the guests of this evening – Amateur Kremlin Cup in Latin-American dancing. An amazing, emotional part of the event!
The strongest Russian and foreign couples will perform on the Kremlin floor. For sure, we will see new Russian champions 2018, Mikhail Popov and Veronika Tamarova, vice-champions Andrey Patrushev and Ekaterina Bralyuk, bronze winners Ruslan Khisamutdinov and Karina Yusupova and many more great dancers. Among the guests are the best couples from Italy, USA, Ukraine, Germany, China, Belarus. Together with leading Russian adjudicators at Kremlin cup will be working the leading foreign specialists, as Paul Kilick (Great Britain), Harald Frahm (Germany), Gary McDonald (USA), Manfred Wang (China), Marcus Hilton MBE (Great Britain).
During this evening for the first time Russian Championship in American Smooth will take place, that will be organized together with SRDS company. This program is new for Russia! Having appeared in USA, as American interpretation of classical ballroom dancing, today it’s spreading all over the world very actively. And for the last few years American Smooth competitions take place regularly in Blackpool. In April 2018 the first open international professional competition in American Smooth took place in Moscow, the initiative belonged to Olga Krasnyanskaya and Eldar Dzhafarov. And 27th of October the audience will have a unique opportunity to compare these two sorts of ballroom choreography in professional performance first at the World Championship, and then at the Russian Championship.
World Professional Ballroom Championship and Amateur Latin Kremlin Cup will be supported by the music of “Dance Land” Orhestra and “7 Winds” Band leaded by honorary artist of Russia Georgy Musheev. They will also invite the guests of the evening on the dance floor during traditional general dancing breaks, where for them will also sing amazing Marina Paloma and a great duo of Leonid Bakhtalin and Angelika Elange. Their new performances will be danced by legendary world champions Victor Da Silva and Anna Melnikova and argentine tango world champions Dmitry Vasin and Sagdiana.
