The Course

There's some differences to last year during the initial part of the parcours but the finishing circuit and climbs on it are the same. I think we all know how it's most likely to end. A race up the Mur de Huy.

The Weather

Not much wind and around 15 degrees but it's 50/50 as to whether there's rain.

The Favourites

Could this be the year that a late attack makes it to the finish line? You wouldn't bet on it would you?

If history counts, we're in for a controlled race with riders trying their luck from distance on the last lap with the last attacks of note coming on the chemin des Gueuses. Then the peloton uses up helpers left, right and centre to bring them back as they hit or have just started the final climb. What that normally means is it's a specific type of rider that does well here and though there'll be dozens with a shot at a top ten as normal, there's really only about 20 guys that you'd think will fill most of the point scoring places. Form obviously counts here but so does positioning and patience. Experience is a great advantage. So though Young Tom and Rog will come into this along with Pog as the top 3 favourites, only the latter has ridden the race before. The startlist isn't yet confirmed but assuming it's right, the guys after the bookies top 3 are the ones with the experience headed by Old Piti and Ala. Then again, Kisses won last year at his first attempt so what do the stats really mean anyway and in that case, you're on your own... Good luck.

In this game, only the race results matter. You're not committed to keeping the same riders throughout the series, you make fresh picks before every race. Our overall competition is just the sum of individual race scores. You're eligible for the overall even if you miss some races.

Riders score points down to 10th place. Less popular riders score more points than heavily-picked favourites. See below for scoring details.

The strict entry deadline is the official start time of the race, the neutralized roll-out or Départ Fictif. Be warned - if your post is timestamped one minute late your entry won't count! So do remember that there's no disadvantage to getting an entry in early, even the day before, because you may always change your picks up until the deadline. Feel free to rethink your picks when it emerges which riders are more or less popular with other players. If you make changes, post your revised 4 picks in a reply to your original post.
