Going over 50 lb limit on Amtrak

We packed our tandem to an Amtrak bike box last night, and it fit fine, there is even some empty space. However, when I measured the weight, it came out at 62 lbs. On their website Amtrak specifies the limit for bike weight being 50 lbs. I wonder how strictly this weight limit policy is enforced. Does anybody have similar experience? I know that if they refuse to take the box, I could maybe take the wheels and racks off the box to make it comply, but I’d rather check it in whole.
