A star month for GM Vladimir Fedoseev – after defeating Magnus Carlsen with the black pieces at the Round 9 of the Chess Olympiad now he won the Play-in of the Julius Baer Generation Cup 2024. Fedoseev was convincing with 7,0/8, defeating Wesley So along the way.
The top 11 finished of the Play-in move on to Division I Placement, joining the already qualified players

This event will last about a week and conclude on October 1. The Play-in is first of two stages that determine which division the players will enter later on—and there are three divisions in total.
