CASTLEHILL CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS OTB 2021-22
Round 4 report

The big match of the round was the board one clash between Alastair Dawson (2½) & (3) Rishi Vijayakumar J10. Would experience prevail over youth, or would youth conquer experience?

Alastair (1734) was a half point behind Rishi (1570) so really needed a win or he will be relying on other people to help him out in round 5. Unfortunately for Alastair, Rishi was not in the mood to give him a draw, and Alastair was not in the mood to give Rishi a win, so a tough draw it ended up being!

This result suited Rishi, especially after his nearest rival on the same points, Leyton Hackney has temporally moved back to New Zealand and can’t play in the last round! That would have been a good match, yes Rishi would have been favourite, especially after they have already met in the Online club championship and Rishi won that match, but OTB might have produced a different result? We will never know now and the path to becoming the 2021-22 OTB champion has been made a little easier for Rishi, but you never know!

Daniel Coleman got another good result in this season’s club championship with a draw against Connor Kelly! Ramit Kanodia managed to grab victory from the jaws of defeat against the bewildered Ray Noble who is not having the best of campaigns!

Ananthi Ramachandran (ug) won against Nhat Nguyen J13, Keith Rose beat Scott Xu J13, Graham Atkins survived against Sean Lewis J13 and Colin Young saw off Norrie Carroll.

Leyton Hackney beat Andy Rowe but due to being in New Zealand the next few months can’t play in the final round. He was gutted as he is joint top of the standings with Rishi after 4 rounds.
