FIDE Grand Swiss 2021 - Games and Results
The FIDE Grand Swiss Tournament takes place Wed 27th Oct to Mon 8th Nov 2021 in Riga. The event was initially scheduled to take place on the Isle of Man and was later switch to Riga over concerns that the regulation might cause it's cancellation. As it is the event starts in Riga with a very high incidence of the disease and regulations affecting locals but not the players. Alexander Grischuk, Richard Rapport, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Hikaru Nakamura and Vidit Gujrathi are leading players who have decided they don't want to play. The top seeds are now Fabiano Caruana, Levon Aronian, Alireza Firouzja, MVL and Nikita Vitiugov. There is a similar women's event alongside - top seed Kateryna Lagno seems not to be playing anymore and so Mariya Muzychuk is now the top player. Play starts at 2pm Riga time each day.
